To Add a New Member to Your Group
Potential members are offered two ‘taster sessions’, then after this decide whether or not they want to join a group.
If they do decide to join the group and continue to attend, it would be advisable to check that they have become a u3a member and are recorded on Beacon.
You can do this by logging into Beacon, and from the Home screen, select Members, which brings up a list of current members.
Above this is a box labelled Search, where you can type in the full name, or just the surname of the person, and you should be able to see that person on your screen. If the search does not bring up a result, it indicates that their membership has not been recorded yet, so it would be advisable to ask them, or contact the Treasurer, Michael Manders, to check what the situation is. Sometimes a person can join and pay by BACS but not send a membership form to the treasurer, so he cannot record them on Beacon.
If the person is a member, proceed as follows
- If you have their membership number, you can simply type this in, and select Add
- From the Home screen on Beacon, select Groups
- From the list of Groups, select your group, by selecting the blue text for your group
- From the next screen, select Members which will be in blue above, this should bring up a list of your group members
- Scroll down to the bottom of the list, where you should see a choice to Add Member, either by membership number or name
- If adding by name, select the dropdown arrow, then scroll down to find the member, and select them, then select Add
