Wakefield u3a @ Pontefract -- New Groups Starting at The Grange
Three new groups are now forming at our Pontefract hub:
Craft and Chat - Creative Writing - History Group
These groups are part of our growing programme of u3a activities at The Grange.

| Social Events Team: Contact | Our Social Events team is short‑staffed and we’re looking for new people to join us. Ill health has reduced the team, and we need fresh ideas and extra hands. We’d particularly welcome some men to help broaden the range of activities, but anyone interested is very welcome. |

Members often suggest new subjects and activities that they would enjoy exploring. These ideas are very welcome, and they help us understand where interest is growing. These subjects are expressions of interest only – they are not active Groups.
All Groups are created and led by members.
A new Group can only form when:
- A member is willing to act as Group Coordinator, and
- Enough other members express interest to make the group viable.
Our New‑Group Development Officer and Group Liaison are here to support any member who would like to coordinate a new group. They can help you find a suitable meeting venue and guide you through the practical steps involved, including membership arrangements and the day to day tasks that keep a group running smoothly.

You are welcome to suggest new subjects at any time. If you would like to register your interest in any of the ideas listed — or if you might consider coordinating a new Group — please use the Contact Us Link: Secretary or speak to any committee member.
If you are not yet a member of u3a but would consider joining if the right group existed, you are also welcome to contact us.
New Groups begin when members step forward. If you have an idea, we’d love to hear it.
How does a new Group start?
New Groups start when there is sufficient interest in an activity and when someone is prepared to step up and coordinate the Group.
