Wakefield & District

Your Committee and You

Wakefield and District u3a consists of Members, Group Coordinators, and the Committee.

Each contributes something unique, and together we form one u3a community.

In the past, these parts of our organisation have sometimes worked separately but now we are strengthening the links between us so everyone benefits and feels part of a shared purpose.

This page introduces the Committee, explains how we work, and outlines our vision and future initiatives.

A New Development Opportunity in Pontefract

We are developing a plan to extend Wakefield u3a into the Pontefract area through a new initiative based at The Grange, Carleton.

This project is still in its early stages, and we are assessing what support and interest may develop. As part of this work, we are looking for a member who could take on a new committee‑level role to help guide the process.

  • Help raise awareness of u3a locally through leaflets and community outreach
  • Support a promotional event at The Grange to gauge interest
  • Encourage new members and help spark new groups based on local interests
