Beacon - access and send email

To access Beacon and send an email to your Group

  • Search for Beacon U3A login
  • From the list of choices, choose Group Leaders
  • On the login screen, click/tap down arrow at rhs of U3A dropdown box, and type wak, which should bring up Wakefield and District, select this
  • Type your username and password into the boxes for these, unless you are given the choice to use a remembered username and password, in which case select this
  • On the Home screen for Beacon, select Groups, which should bring up a screen showing all the Groups
  • Select your Group, which should bring up your group details
  • You should have various options to choose above your group, select Members, this should bring up a list of the members in your group, with boxes you can tick to select a particular member
  • If you want to select a particular member, tick the box for that member, otherwise, at the top of the column of boxes, select Select (in blue) and from the dropdown menu that comes up in black, select Select All, this should place a tick at the lhs for every member of the group
  • Scroll right down to the bottom of the list, where there should be choices of ‘do with selected’ in a blue box, and next to it a box with options to select, if not already shown, select the dropdown arrow to bring up the option to send email, then select ‘do with selected’ which should bring up a screen allowing you to send an email to all members. Note, you also here have the option of downloading a spreadsheet or pdf of your members, which you can check from time to time against your register.
  • Compose your email, then select send from the box at the bottom of the screen
