What does the Pontefract Development Officer do?

An opportunity exists for us to extend our presence into Pontefract under the banner Wakefield u3a@Pontefract.

The venue is a community centre providing a hub for social and educational activities.

The post holder would:

Develop a relationship with the on site team who are working to develop Carleton Grange and consult and liaise with the committee on any proposed initiatives

Publicise who u3a are and what we do by distributing informational leaflets to the local population and also in community hubs, such as libraries and cafes in the Pontefract area

Work alongside the committee by setting up a promotional event at The Grange to assess what interest there is

Recruit members to Pontefract by showcasing interest groups, offering "try before you buy" taster sessions

Encourage prospective members to coordinate new groups based on their own interests, fostering a sense of community ownership

Acts as a Trustee
