Music Appreciation Group

We each bring some music which s played to the members and we explain what we like about that piece, what it means to us, maybe something about the artist or the instruments.
The genres are eclectic, the last meeting featured:
Bill Fay, The Housemartins, The Marriage of Figaro, Dave Brons, The Dubliners, Richerd & Linda Thompson, Carl Orff, Mahler, Miles Davis, The Gael Pipes & Drums, Elaine Paige, Mozart, Bob Marley and Ravel!
Sing 'n Strum Group
The fortnightly Sing ‘n Strum group met this week in their new room. We are a large group, 48 in all, and have outgrown the room we used to use, so Manygates kindly agreed to let us use their large hall, which was convenient for them also as before other equipment needed to be moved as well. We soon settled in, and had our usual fun time, singing a variety of songs, from the sixties to the nineties, encompassing Billy Fury, Showaddiwaddy and Elton John, plus many more old favourites. We don’t claim to be expert singers, but we do have fun, and our ‘strummers’ with guitars and a banjo, accompany us very well, especially when you think they don’t have an opportunity to practice together beforehand.
