Your ideas and interests will help shape how the group develops.

Pontefract Hub - The Grange
Wakefield u3a is now fully active in Pontefract, working in partnership with The Grange to develop a growing programme of member‑led interest groups. The Grange provides welcoming rooms, accessible facilities and a friendly community setting — an ideal home for our new u3a activities in the Pontefract area.
Several new u3a groups are now forming here, with more planned as local interest grows.
Open Day
Our Open Day at The Grange on 25 July welcomed many local residents and confirmed strong interest in u3a activities. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the volunteers who supported the event. The first groups are now being established.
How to Get Involved
If you live in Pontefract and would like to join a group or suggest a new one, please contact us via the Secretary enquiry form. New groups will be added as interest grows.
Wakefield u3a @ Pontefract – Open Day Report
Our Open Day at Carleton Grange on Saturday 25th July was a great success, and we would like to thank all the Pontefract residents who came along, as well as the volunteers who helped prepare and run the event.
We were pleasantly surprised by the number of very keen members of the public who visited throughout the morning. The level of interest shown confirms that there is a real need for a u3a presence in Pontefract, and the community response has been extremely encouraging.
From the Register of Interest forms completed on the day, we now have enough people to begin establishing at least four new Groups at Carleton Grange from September. This gives us a strong foundation to build on, and once these initial groups are up and running, we expect word of mouth to increase interest even further.
All developments and updates will be posted on our website and Facebook page, so please keep checking in as plans progress:
Website: https://wakefield-and-district.u3asite.uk/
Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61567250372171
Thank you once again to everyone who attended and supported the event. We look forward to bringing new u3a activities to the Pontefract community.

Our Craft and Chat, History, Gardening and Creative Writing Groups were on display and talk to interested Pontefract residents.

u3a Groups Intermediate Guitar and Sing 'n strum provided entertainment.
What happens next?
We are now reviewing the Register of Interest forms and shaping the first four groups for launch in September. Updates will appear on this page and on our Facebook page as plans develop.
